Education
Dr. Martin Van Vliet, a board-certified orthodontist, was born and raised in upstate New York. He attended the State University of New York at Albany, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. He continued his education at Fairleigh Dickinson University School of Dentistry, and received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine in 1975. After completing a two-year residency of specialty training in the field of orthodontics, Dr. Van Vliet earned his Orthodontic Certificate from the State University of New York at Buffalo. In 1988, he was elected as a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.

Family Life
Dr. Van Vliet's loyalty to professional quality may be traced to his personal values. When not working, Dr. Van Vliet enjoys spending time with his wife of over 40 years, Marita, and their two adult children, Maureen and Michael. A former high school mathematics teacher, Marita holds a Master of Science degree in Mathematics Education. She began her volunteer fundraising efforts as Chairman of the Board of Managers of the American Cancer Society’s Bergen County Division and presently sits on the Valley Hospital Auxiliary’s Branch Unit.
Though Dr. Van Vliet enjoys traveling, golf, and fishing, his favorite leisure activity is just spending quality time with his family.
